Time

O GOD,
Time is so valuable, yet I often live as hough I have more than enough. I admit I waste far too much time doing things that aren't important. I let interruptions rule the day. I know I should be more purposeful about how I spend my time, but I'm often unsure how to do that. Help me to remember that you do not ask me to do everything--just everything you have called me to do. And you assure me that there is enough time for that. The more time I invest in discovering the purpose for which you created and in living out that purpose with obedience and responsibility, the more meaningful and significant my time on earth will be. O Lord, I commit to having you as my number one priority. I want to invest in you with the best of my time ad energy.

*** Teach us to realize the brevity of life, so that we may grow in wisdom. Psalm 90:12 ***

Its easy to waste time, its called procrastination or laziness. Often we get so sidetracked with weekly schedules that we loose track of our time and how we spend it. " Wow! Time has really flown by." " Where did the time go?" " I can't believe its so late already". There is also the opposite effect. When our day is so full of things and it seems like it will never end. We become worn down and our mood is changed for us. Take time to focus on The Lord each day, ask Him to help you manage your time as He wants. To do the things that He wants you to focus on. When we take the load off our our shoulders and lay it before Him, asking Him to sort it out and dispose of the unnecessary , we lighten our load the way He sees fit.

Values

LORD,
Do I value the things that you concider important, useful, and worthy? Sometimes I let the world around me tell me what is important and worth pursuing. It's so easy to go with the cultural flow and even become a fearful slave to the ways of the world. How can I be so blind to the motivations within my own heart? My values are crystal clear to those around me. What I do, where I spend my time and money, and what I talk about shows exactly what I value the most. Lord, I choose to value you most. Let that decision reflect in the words I speak and in how I spend my time, energy, and money. Help me to value what you consider to be most important: loving and worshiping you, obeying you wholeheartedly, making godly choices, and serving others.

*** Wherever your treasure is, there the disires of your heart will also be.
LUKE 12:34***

Oh, how I miss Calvary Kids Bible Club. Hearing all the kids sing and singing with them. " Store up for yourselves treasure in heaven.
Where theives and robbers cannot break in..............
Where your treasure is! There your heart will be also! There your heart will be also!" Even the simplest songs can have a great impact.

Perfection

DEAR GOD,
I can be such a perfectionist! Why do I feel the need to control everyone and everything? I know you love to work through imperfect people and circumstances, and the biggest disasters are often your best opportunities. When I think about it that way, Lord, it's a relief to know that you have everything under control. Help me to trust you.

*** Even perfection has it's limits, but your commands have no limit. PSALM 119:96 ***

Man, does this prayer and verse hit the target! I know I am a perfectionist, Iv'e been medically labeled so OCD. I often struggle with seeking perfection over the smallest things, silly things that matter only to me. Just the other day I had a quick and enlightening conversation with a friend about imperfect and rushed work. As crafters, we want our work to turn out how we had envisioned it. PERFECT! Over the years I had come to learn that often the work that didn't come out exactly how I wanted it had received the most praise. Then I realized, why was I stressing so much about it being perfect as long as it was pleasing. We need to let go perfection and trust that the end result with turn out just as its was meant to.

Commitment

HEAVENLY FATHER,
Help me to get it through my head that commitment involves giving you my whole self- body, soul, emotions, and mind. Though my mind must decide to commit to you,it's my will that allows me to follow through. I know commitment can be costly, but you promise great blessing to those who are faithful. I want to be fully devoted to you- no matter what. This is my fervent prayer today.

*** Give yourself completely to God, for you were dead, but now you have new life. SO use your whole body as an instrument to do what is right for the glory of God. ROMANS 6:13***

Oh, Commitment! What a topic. The biggest thought on anyones mind when the big "C" word comes up is marriage. You mention commitment, and marraige comes in the mix. Now, commitment is not seen the same, you have 90 days to try something out before you are fully charged for it. You can lease a vehicle, cause lots of time people look forward to the trade up. If your not satisfied with something that you purchased from a warehouse store, that you pay to be a member of, you can return it at anytime. And I mean anytime, years down the line even, after you've used it to its make and no longer like it.
Its lack of commitment and lack of respect for it, that creates no need for it. Take for instance, children and marraige. I was once asked by an old schoolmate if all my children were from the same man. I was completly shocked at the question. Then I realized that there are lots of women who have kids with different fathers. But it was when I kindly replied with a giggle " Of course. My husband is the father of all three of our children" , that the next comment really got me. " OH, so youre married or really married like legally?" I couldnt believe what I was hearing. Marraige is now just a word to claim that two people are together. The sacred act of committing yourself to one peorson was no being used as a disrespectful way for people to feel good about their lack of committment. Committment to Christ and a committment to marraige are one in the same. We give ourselves completely, body, soul, emotions, and mind. We can never know true committment and the security that comes with it until we committ ourselves in return. Its not to be taken lightly , but by NO means to be tossed about lightly and disrepectfully either.

" You know my heart as well as the Lord. For that, I praise Him ."

Reputation

Dear God,
Sometimes I think that what I do in my personal life does not matter as long as I perform well on the job or look good in public. But you do not make a distinction between the way we should act in public or in private. I know that I will develope a good reputation when I display the same godly integrity alone as I do in front of others. What matters most is not what other people think of me but what you think of me. I want to develop the strong character you want me to have, with characteristics that reflect you- like justice, righteousness, integrity, mercy, honesty, fairness, and faithfulness. Lord, please give me the character to be a person of integrity at all times, not just when others are watching. Only then will I understand what it means to walk with you.

*** Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather tahn for people. Remember that the Lord will give you an inheritanceas your reward, and that Master you are serving is Christ. COLOSSIANS 3:23-24 ***

I have to say that the most difficult thing to do when it comes to our reputation is to keep quiet. While the other person is acting a fool and making a scene it better just to stand silently and not react. Its just what they want and what the enemy wants. " Take care of your behavior and I will take care of your reputation". Its never about who won the arguement, in the end arguing means someone, most often both people end up getting hurt. Words get twisted and lies are told, one side always wants to play the part of the victim. If we have reflected true character that will honor the Lord then he will take care of the rest.

Apathy

LORD GOD,
My faith is lukewarm right now, and my sense of passion and purpose is gone. This apathy is like a parasite that feeds on my motivation and devours the talents and gifts you have given me. Lord, I know one of Satan's greatest lies is that following you is nothing to be excited about. That couldn't be further from the truth. It is only through serving you that my life will have meaning, energy, and purpose. Your spirit is a driving force within me, lighting a passion for service in my heart and encouraging purpose rather than boredom. God, your Word describes the antidote to apathy: purposeful work, a thankful heart, and service to others. These three things can help me fight off feelings of apathy, renew my focus on your purpose for my life, and anticipate with excitement the blessings you have in store for me. Please revive me, Lord!

* God is not unjust. He will not forget how hard you have worked for him and how you have showed your love to him by caring for other believers, as you still do. Our great desire is that you will keep on loving others as long as life lasts, in order to make certain that what you hope for will come true. Then you will not become spiritually dull and indifferent. HEBREWS 6: 10-12 ***

What is it that causes us to lose our excitement for Jesus? When we start out, I know personally and seeing it in my husband, that we are on fire for The Lord. We throw ourselves into service and attenting as often as we can. We are huge sponges that cannot absorb enough. Maybe its circumstances that keep us away from church and fellowship or maybe its the enemy. No matter what it is im sure that everyone at some point feels that fire slowly glow dim. When I have felt this way the only thing I could do was to make no excuses and serve. Serve as much and often as I could. Even when I was told by others that I should be at home resting, I felt that it was better to be at church serving and having fellowship with others. Feeding the fire. Ensuring that when I could not make it that my flames would not glow dim. I'm not saying that service is a way to say " I did this , so I can take off time". Me , personally, I have always felt drawn to serve at church no matter what was going on in my life. Serving others and loving others was a greater impact on me than I could have ever imagined. When I think of becoming spiritually dull I think of a blade. Unused it can become rusty and dull but if we are sharpening that tool it will always be ready whenever we need it.
Don't let your blade become dull and rusty , keep it well oiled and sharp. Ready to help others and by doing so you will be helping yourself.

Words

DEAR JESUS,
I've never really considered the impact of my words. But the things I say and even the meaning behind them have enormous impact on those who hear. In a sense, my words are gifts that I can give. My words can be a gift of praise to you or a gift of encouragement to a friend. I know that I have often spoken words that are annoying, complaining, insulting, demeaning, or simply useless. I'm sorry I have been so irresponsible with my tongue. I want to make my words count. Help me to be thoughtful in my prayers to you and my speech to others. Perhaps the greatest gift I can give others is not in a box covered with paper and bows but in the words I use to encourage, inspire, comfort, or challenge them .

*** Let everything you say be good and helpful, so that your words will be an encouragement to those who hear them. EPHESIANS 4:29 ***

Words are very powerful. They have a great effect when use correctly and can create a great damage as well if used for the wrong reasons. The two most obvious things I can think of are building up or breaking down. As a mother, I see that my words toward my children mean a whole lot more now at such a young age. These words now are buliding blocks for my relationship with my children. Bulding a good foundation is going to be very important later on for our communication when they get older and are changing from children to growing adults. I know that there is the flip side to this as well if I am not buliding then I am breaking. My words can have the effect of a sledge hammer on bricks. Ill be destroying the bricks and creating an uneven surface. You cant stand on an uneven surface without having to constantly keep balance and worry about falling and getting hurt.
This image is the same for us towards our Father. Are we using the correct words in our prayers toward Him to build a strong foundation or are we constantly slamming the bricks with that sledge hammer? I encourage you to take time in your prayers and ask the Lord to help you with your words and become a better brick layer instead of a demolition laborer.

Gossip

DEAR JESUS,
I have been burned by the rumors of gossip, and now I'm feeling convicted about the way I talk about others. I confess I have found it entertaining to let others in on my little secrets. But now I see that my words are meant to damage someone's reputation or make myself feel better. Sometimes I share information without evening knowing if it's true! I am so sorry for the way I have fanned the flames of gossip within my own circle. I see how much hurt it causes. Forgive me, God. You are the only one who can judge a person, and I should leave that in your hands. Who am I to destroy a person's reputation based on a rumor? Who am I to allow gossip to continue just so I feel like I'm in the loop? When I am tempted to gossip, remind me how others talke about me. Let the gossip stop with me. Give me the courage to change the subject or spin the conversation by saying something positive. I don't want to add fuel to the fire in any longer. Please, Lord, let my kind words allow your grace to break through to those around me.

*** The Scriptures say, " If you want to enjoy life and see amny happy days, keep your tounge from speaking evil and your lips from telling lies." I PETER 3:10 ***

I have to say that I like this prayer , for the reason that this is what I will say the next time I am on the receiving end of the rumors. I never knew that as a grown woman rumors could be spread about by another grown woman. It still hurts no matter what age you are but I think that it is a bit more shocking when you are well past high school and college age. That being said , I don't believe that this is only limited to women alone. Yes we talk more than men do and more frequently too, but it is possible for rumors to be spread by both men and women alike. Rumors are hurtful wether you start them or are the victim of them. The victim is wrongfully shamed and spoken about and the " Butter knife", person who starts the rumor and spreads is can get hurt by ruined and forever broken friendships because trust is lost. A lie is a lie and the thing worse than a lie is taking something that someone has brough to you in confidence seeking prayer and councel and using it as a tool to bring positive light onto yourself while making the other person look back. NOthing good ever comes from a lie and you cannot repay evil with evil and expect good to come from it.

Experience

HEAVENLY FATHER,
Thank you that you waste nothing but use everything to further your good purposes. David's first job was shephering--hardly the recommended grooming for a future king. Yet the lessons David learned on the hills with the sheep served him well on the throne; he ruled not as a tyrant but as a shepherd. Thank you, God, that you can use me, too, in whatever situation I find myself, and you will use my current circumstances to prepare me for future service. Even if I think my job, activities, or circumstances are signifigant now, help me remember that you may be preparing me for service later. God, I need your help to make the most of where you have put me right now. Let my service to you in the present become a time of preparation for the future you have planned for me.

*** I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns. PHILLIPPIANS 1:6 ***

I must say that I absolutely love this prayer and bible verse. For years now I have known that the Lord was doing a great work in me and through me. I can reflect on many days were I felt like the simple and mundane seemed useless when it came to a service for the Lord , but know I look back and can smile on the things that I have learned and can share with others. I know know that even now the Lord has a plan in motion and Im excited to find out where it will lead and what kind of service I will be doing for the Lord.

Promises of God

DEAR GOD.
I often find it hard to trust in others' promises. Few people are truthful and dependable, and even if they are, sometimes life just happens and they are unable to carry what they promised. But if I can't believe a promise from you, I can't believe a promise from anyone, because you alone are completely trustworthy. You are truth, and you have the power to carry out all you have said. Even when circumstances might lead me to doubt, please strengthen my confidence that your promises will come true.

*** God can be trusted to keep his promise. HEBREWS 10:23 ***

Its easy to look at the prayer and think WOW!!!!!...... it seems like if i dont trust anyone then I dont trust God. But if I only trust God and no one around me then where does that leave me . If I put my trust in others and things fail does that mean that God failed me? Nope. Simply put , we can put our trust in God that His promises with be fulfilled. He will provide for us , there is always a way and we have to remember that our way is not His way. Doubt does creep in when circumstances are difficult and that of course is natural in this world we live in. But turn your head up and focus on the Lord.

Availabilty

DEAR JESUS,
To be available to you means more than acknowledging your existence. It means reorienting my life so that no matter what I do, I do it as a service to you. Jesus, please give me an eagerness to go where you call me and to serve where you show me, Make my hesitant heart a willing heart. May I experience your blessings- not because of my ability, but because of my availability to you.

*** My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. JOHN 10:27 ***

God's Hand

O GOD,
Sometimes you have demonstrated your power through visible, miraculous signs. At other times it has been much more subtle, moving in my heart as I seek you. Sometimes you have worked through events in my life or used surprising people to accomplish your will. Sometimes you have been a still, quiet voice in my mind, and at other times you have been a force to be reckoned with. Some things about you are constant and unchanging: your love, your law, your promises. Other things about you are wild and mysterious. You have rarely worked the same way twice in my life, so I know i must trust you diligently and live with a sense of expectancy, knowing that you wan to work your will through me. Often, it isn't until I look back that I cansee your fingerprints. You have proved that I can trust you, and I am thankful that your hand is on me even now.

*** The LORD says, "I will guide you along the best pathway for your life. I will advise you and watch over you." PSALM 32:8 ***

Regrets

O LORD,
Regret is one of the heaviest burdens I carry. I have made bad decisions that I wish I could do over. I ask you to release me from the guilt I feel about my past sins and mistakes. Free me from my chains of remorse, for you are the God of transformation and renewal. I am taking you up on your promise to help me deal with my regrets so I can move on without carrying that heavy load. Since I am a follower of Jesus, you forgive my confessed sins--all of them. And more than that, you actually forget them and give me a fresh start. Oh, how I want that. How I need that! I know the consequences of my past actions are not retractable. I can live with that if I know that I am fully forgiven and that you consider me worthy to serve you. If you don't hold my past against me , neither should I. My mind is free to look ahead and not look back. I am no longer a slave to my regrets because I have thrown them off in order to do something better, more worthy, for you. After all, if Peter had been burdened by his regret after denying Jesus, he would never have been able to preach the Good News so poerfully. Thank you that you can relieve my burden too.

*** Oh, what joy for those whose disobedience is forgiven, whose sins are put out of sight. Yes, what joy for those whose record the LORD has cleared of sin. ROMANS 4:7-8***

Relationship

DEAR GOD,
The image of love between a husband and wife or a parent and child is a glimpse of the kind of relationship you want to have with me. How amazing that part of your design in relationships was to help people know how to relate to you. I want my bond with you to be stronger than with anyone else, but I struggle to know how to talk with you or feel closer to you. That's because too often I see you as a distant God. But when I think of relating to you as I do my close friends or family, I see you have given me living examples! It is through closeness with others that I can learn to be intimate, how to share my heart, thoughts, and dreams with someone else. But God, you already know those things. You know the best and the worst in me, and you saved me anyway. That alone proves you are not a distant God but a personal God who loves and pursues me. Thank you for always reaching out to me, always seeking to be close to me. Let the response of my heart be to pursue you, just as I would in any other relationship. I pray that as I do, I would begin to know you intimately. May I experience a loving relationship that is second to no other.

*** Moses said to the LORD. " . . . If it is true that you look favorably on me, let me know your ways so I may understand you more fully and continue to enjoy your favor." EXODUS 33:12-13 ***

Almost everyone has someone that they talk to everyday or close to that. We become so close to that person we have a bond that others do not. We know how they are doing feeling by the expression on their face, the tone in their voice or what they post on Facebook. Yes , I said it. My idea of a relationship like the one described is the same as when I see someone I love , expressing with either body language, tone or facial expression, that something is troubling them and I want to be there and help them. I pursue them because I love them . Its the same for the Lord, He loves us and wants to be closer to us.

Worth

GOD,
I often struggle to see myself as you might. I either fail to see my faults, or I fail to see my value. I know you love me for who I am, because you created me this way! I know your love for me is not based on what I do for you, because you loved me before I made my first mistake, before I uttered my first word, and even before I took my first breath. Your love for me is an eternal thread woven throughout my life and fortified through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus on my behave. I still struggle with believing that your approval doesn't depend on what I do. I confess that sometimes I get so caught up in doing things for you, God, that I lose sight of the greatest privilage of all--knowing you and being known by you. To have my name registered as a citizen of heaven means that I belong, without question, to your eternal Kingdom. Nothing else on earth can compare with that joy. Lord. please keep me from the trap of basing my self-worth on my performance. Teach me to rejoice that it is based on your unconditional love for me.

*** You made [people]only a little lower than God and crowned them with glory and honor. PSALM 8:5 ***

Sometimes its hard to share the love of God with others because they feel that they are not worth anything at all and that are worth even less in the eyes of God. This is untrue. How many were deemed worthy by Jesus as others protested that they were not? Its this example that shows true love. The same kind of love that a mother and father feel about their unborn child and then suddenly increased to the moment that child comes into this world. " How can you love someone so much that you just met?" It comes upon us instantly and we are covered in it. Like a wave that just washes over us. This in my eyes is the same love that the Lord has for each of his children. Our worth is much more than we think .

Sin

GOD,
Why do I sometimes feel like sin is such an offensive word? I can talk about crimes like theft or murder; I can calculate statistics about adultery, unwed mothers, and divorce; I can trivialize greed, selfishness and lust--but to call anything sin makes me uncomfortable. It implies the violation of an object, absolute standard of behavior, and if I'm honest, I feel like that kind of standard is an infringement on my rights. I know my reaction displays a terrible misunderstanding of sin and an underestimation of you, God. If a doctor were to correctly diagnose a fatal disease in my body, I would not accuse him of intruding on my freedom; rather, I would be grateful because he could treat me. The bible teaches that sin is a disease of the soul that will destroy my life if I do not treat it. God, your standards of behavior are like preventive medicine for my soul; your commandments are not meant to limit my freedom but to curtail the disease of sin. When I understand sin in this way, Lord, I am thankful that you care so deeply for my soul.

*** If we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness. I JOHN 1:9 ***

Temptation

LORD,
One of Satan's favoite strategies is to make sin look desirable, harmless, and good. He knows exactly how to entice me, and he takes advantage of every weakness. Don't let Satan trick me with his lies! Help me stay strong through the work of your Spirit. As I seek your guidance, show me that the enemy is no match for your power within me.

*** Keep watch and pray, so that you will not give in to temptation. For the spirit is willing, but the body is weak! MATTHEW 26:41 ***

Temptation comes in many forms , each different for everyone. Our stuggles are the same, our body is weak and sometmes cannnot resist it. The enemy likes to disguise it as just a simple indulgence but it can lead to worse things. Don't let the enemy tempt you into being sinful by whispering softly in your ear.... " its only one, you deserve it, why shouldn't you and no one will know". Simple phrases that lead to a downfall. Put in the ear plugs and keep walking .

Holy Spirit

DEAR JESUS,
Thank you for sending the Holy Spirit to be my spiritual mentor and guide. Through your Spirit, you help me build my relationship with you and guide me into wisdom, understanding, and spiritual maturity. I invite your Spirit to lead me so that I can grow in faith and wisdom.

*** You have received the Holy Spirit, and he lives within you, so you don't need anyone to teach you what id true. For the Spirit teaches you everything you need to know , and what he teaches is true-its not a lie, So just as he has taught you, remain in fellowship with Christ. I JOHN 2:27 ***

Belonging

DEAR GOD,
I know that obeying you is an important part of belonging to you, because it shows others that I love you. It is out of love that you give commands to your people, to protect us, guide us, and ensure that we experience life to the fullest. Obeying you is a sign that I have accepted your call and that I belong to you. Disobeying you is not so much about breaking a law as breaking your heart by showing that I love myself more than you. God, you are my heavenly Father, who welcomes me into your family and showers me with blessings as I obey you. These blessings may not always be material things, but they are always rich and satisfying-such as peace of mind, lasting joy, and the honor or experiencing your presence. I'm so grateful to belong to you, and I want to show it. Thank you for sharing the blessings that come from belonging to your family.

*** Keep the way of the LORD by doing what is right and just. Then I will do ... all that I have promised. GENESIS 18:19 ***

Trust

DEAR LORD,
There are so few people that I really trust. And if I'm honest, I have to ask if I fully trust you, especially when tough times come into my life. Distrust is so painful because it causes me to question others' motives. But trust is a beautiful gift. When I trust others, our relationships are deepened because I know that what they tell me is true and that they are acting in my best interest. If I can't trust you, O God, the only one who is completely trust worthy, I will never experience true peace, and I won't be able to engage in a relationship with you. Help me to trust you, for you alone are trustworthy. When I learn to trust you, I will never have to question your motives. Lord, may I be absolutely confident that you always have my best interest in mind because your love for me is so great.

*** Those who know your name trust in you, for you, O LORD, do not abandon those who search for you. PSALM 9:10 ***

It has been a very long day today and I want to apologize for such a late post, but I have to say that sometimes the wait proves to be worth it. I wasn't for sure about what to share and I've been taking in todays prayer and bible verse. To some it up with out dragging on , I trust the Lord as much as humanly possible. I admit that I have moments, instances and trails that do cause me to second guess and to worry. But from those I have learned that unless I whole heartedly have trust in God I can never know the security that comes with it. I've made, and my husband and I together , many a decision trusting in the Lord. We've heard questions about how we can just go off of faith alone but no one can truly understand it if they dont have that same faith and trust. Its also something that is very hard to explain without more questions arising. The most beautiful experience I have had concerning trust in the Lord is one not soley mine but shared with another. I was asked " How can you make a decision from feeling "Thats what Your God" wanted?" After I had smiled and taken a deep breath I went on to explain what I had been through and how God had got me through so much and what I was able to share with others as an encouragement, I witnessed a change in expression and body language that told me I had shared the Lord with someone who was seeking Him but was unable to fully trust in Him. I'd like to think that throughout my life I can and will be a tool for the Lord. I share what I can when I can , being lead by the Lord. But its moments like those that reaffirm my trust in Him.

Habits

DEAR FATHER,
Just as I am in the habit of eating every day, help me develope the habit of feeding on your Word every day. Your Scriptures nourish my soul and quench my spiritual thirst. You promise that your word is living, penetrating every fiber of my being. It provides the antidote for the deadly disease of sin; it shows me how to thrive with joy; it developes in me a clean and holy heart. without the habit of reading my Bible, I know I will inevitably drift away from you. Please don't let this happen, for if I am apart from you, I will have no chance to experience the mercy and blessings that come from a relationship with you. Grant me this prayer, Lord--Not just a habit of reading you Word, but a deep desire to be drawn to it every day.

*** All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work.

Mercy

LORD,
I am such a sinner. If I'm honest with myself, I admit that sin affects everything I do. It penetrates most of my thoughts. When you see how sin has effected me-and everyone on earth-it must break your heart. We are all so prone to ignore you, neglect you, even rebel against you. Why would you want to risk all this rejection? It can only be because of your infinite love and mercy. Out of your love comes the mercy that gives me a second chance even when I dont deserve it. And its not just a second chance. Again and again you reach out to me in love, no matter how man times my sin drives a wedge between us. Even though my sin and rebellion against you deserve punishment, you offer forgiveness and eternal life instead. The more I understand that you show mercy even when I dont deserve it, the more I will experience the full impact of your love for me. Only then will I be able to truly love others and show them mercy, even when they don't deserve it.

*** The Lord is compassionate and merciful, slow to get angry and filled with unfailing love. He will not constantly accuse us, nor remain angry forever. He does not punish us for all our sins; he does not deal harshly with us, as we deserve. PSALM 103:8-10 ***

Sin is such a difficult topic. we all sin , its true. It starts in our minds and can go from there. We can have a hurtful thought towards someone for saying or doing something mean to us. There are numerous ways we can commit sin in our everyday life. In the car , we can have road rage . Waiting in a long line, we can grow angry towards the cashier/clerk for not moving as fast as we want. Yet , The Lord has such mercy on us. Forgiving us time and time again, loving us greatly despite our sins.
My husband recently said to me...." How can you go and do something so nice for me when I have just been such a jerk to you?" My response was very simple and from the heart..." I wont feel better by being mean or hurtful towards you. I can only love on you and win your heart that way."

Potential

DEAR GOD,
Reading the book of Judges I am stuck at how your angel greeted Gideon by calling him "mighty hero." Was he talking to the right person? Gideon was hiding from his enemies, the Midianites, and he saw himself as the least important in his family. But when you looked at Gideon, you saw the man who rescued Israel. Lord, do you look at me that way? Am I a "mighty hero" in your eyes even though I think of myself as weak? Oh, please bring out the best in me! Thank you that you see more in me than I see in myself. I look at my limitations, but you, O God, look at my potential. You perceive in me what you created me to be. Thank you for seeing what I can become instead of scolding me for who I am. It makes me want to rise to your expectations and become a person who models a giant faith. May I aspire to reflect all you see in me.

*** The angel of the LORD came....Gideon son of Joash was threshing wheat at the bottom of a winepress to hide the grain from the Midianites. The angel of the Lord appeared to him and said, " Mighty hero, the LORD is with you!" JUDGES 6:11-12***

Patience

LORD,
I need patience! I am focused on my own agenda and priorities, and I get impatient when life doesn't go the way I want it to. Remind me that there is more to life than maintaining a schedule. Open my eyes to your perspective, Lord, so I can have peace, no matter the circumstances.

*** We also pray that you will be strengthened will all his glorious power so you will have all the endurance and patience you need. COLOSSIANS 1:11 ***

My sister told me once many years ago, " The Lord doesn't give us patience when we ask for it. He gives us opportunities to exercise it." Very wise words that I now share with other moms. when I was still a new mom and starting to pull out my hair ;) ..... I would often pray for patience. I didn't want to be a MOMZILLA with babyzillas running around. I wanted to be and feel like the moms on the covers of magazines. Baby on the hip basket of clean laundry on the other with the other two were well behaved and getting along. No matter how much I prayed, I wasn't going to get things the way I wanted. Right away and right in my eyes. I had to face the fact that there were going to be many days ( 75% of the time) that I would not leave or arrive on time, that I was blessed if we all made it out of the house fully clothed and arrived alive to our destination. Feeling rushed and always worried about " THE SCHEDULE" meant never stopping and appreciating the hecticness for what it truly is, LIFE! I stopped worrying so much about all the little things and exercised more patience with my little ones and took the time to watch and remember all the little things that I might have overlooked being in such a stressfull state of HURRY, NOW, and CAN'T WAIT.

Absolute Truth

HEAVENLY FATHER,
History is full of examples of individuals who did what was right in their own eyes- with catastrophic results! I know that I am born with the desire to sin, and that doing my own thing will always lead me away from you, the source of all truth. Teach me not to pass judgement on your ways by devising my own, but to follow you in every way. Help me to follow your instructions, for your truth will last forever.

*** All he does is just and good, and all his commandments are trustworthy. They are forever true, to be obeyed faithfully and with integrity. Psalm 111:7-8 ***

The truth can sometimes seem other than what it is. God shows us a truth but we sometimes allow fear to sneak in and make us feel that it's not really what the Lord had in mind for us. We should never secong guess God and we should never try to make our own plans to carry out what He has told us to do. " I know you want me to do this Lord, buthow about I do this instead? Its kinda what you had in mind and it feels right to me. Safer, unlike what you were telling me which had to be wrong cause it didn't feel right." When we let our flesh get into the mix nothing good comes from it. Its like the positives of being a vegetarian....its better for heart health. Well , our heart is for the Lord so kick the flesh.

" When in doubt, say no to meat and yes to veg:)"

Spiritual Dryness

O LORD,
My soul is thirsty. I feel so dry, longing for something that will be truly fulfilling. My desire to know you and serve you has wilted and dried up. As a farmer takes extra care of his fields in a drought, so I am in desperate need of some extra soul care during this time of spiritual dryness. The best place to go for that is your Word. As I read it, may it water my soul, soaking in and filling me with devine nourishment. May it speak to me and renew my sense of purpose. I pray that you would also send opportunities for service to revive my passion for you. When you do, push me off the sidelines and into the work you want me to do. Don't let me miss out. That is what I need to get serious about my faith again. O Lord, my parched soul longs for you. Let me drink deeply now.

*** The LORD will guide you continually, giving you water when you are dry and restoring your strength. You will be like a well-watered garden, like an ever flowing spring. ISAIAH 58:11 ***

Im not sure what to share or speak about when it comes to a topic like this except to say that I think that this is where I am at right now. Going through a spiritual dryness. Going from attending service twice on Sunday and attending church meetings two more days during the week, to only a single service on Sunday has felt like being in a drought. Having started this daily blog and devoting more time to the Lord and really thinking about each prayer and verse's application to my life has already made a difference.
Spiritual dryness is something that happens to everyone at some point. Maybe more than once in your life and the time length varies. Continuing to seek the Lord during this time is the best thing for me to do. I know I will receive the nourishment needed to be sustained and the Lord will pour out on to me when I least expect it.
Each day has felt like a small break in a heat wave. Like when its so hot and the air is dry and still. Then all of a sudden a gust of cool wind comes and sweeps over you and you feel such a great refreshment that you can take a deep breath and let out a sigh of relief. Each day has felt like this. Right now I feel like the desert, dry cracked and radiating with heat , but I am so hopeful in knowing that there will be great rain. One that is going to require full rain gear, Tall boots and a yellow Gordon's Fisherman rain slicker. Ha ha, thats a funny thought. Now I'm not saying that I'm just sitting around and waiting for it, I'm just ready. Cause when it comes I'm going to be standing in it with buckets in my hands catching it so I can pour it out onto others.
" Im ready Lord... boots, bucket and all." :)

Quiet Times

LORD,
I admit that I struggle to be still and quiet. I want to hear you speak, but I know that so often I throw out my complaints or needs and then rush on with my day without even listening for your response. Help me to prepare myself to hear you speak. Honestly, I feel awkward just sitting there and not talking. Please empty me of my need to be heard or to be in control of our times together. May I just spend time in your presence without verbalizing my prayers. Teach me to meditate on you and listen for your voice. Help me to believe that I will hear you, and ready my heart to hear you speak to me.

*** I wait quietly before God, for my victory comes from him...
Let all that I am wait quietly before God, for my hope is in
him....Pour out your heart to him, for God is our refuge. PSALM 62;1, 5, 8 ***

Time with God is a conversation, not phoning in an order and expecting and arrival in 30 minutes or less or its free. You need to sit down and have a cup of coffe or tea and stay awhile just like with anyone else. You cant sat " Hi! How are ya? I'm good. Kids good. Husbands good. Health okay. You okay?" SIP SIP "Uh Huh. WOW! REALLY! You don't say. Me too!" GULP GULP
There is no relationship there, just empty chit chat. You wouldn't have coffee and a conversation like this with one of your friends so why would you with the Lord? Rushing things along to suit your wants will not fullfill your true needs. Think back to my explanation of "WANT or NEED" in our household. The Lord knows what we truely need, and in order to recieve it sometimes you just need to STOP, SIT STILL AND BE QUIET. If your a mom then you are familiar with these words. So dont take and insult when I say, Your parent is giving you instruction and all you need to do is be quiet and you will hear Him.
Sometimes , even as grown ups we need a time out. Sit , calm your breathing and your mind and just enjoy the quiet. Open your ears and your heart and welcome the Lord in for nice quiet conversation.

Beginnings

LORD GOD,
At some point, all people dream of new beginnings - an escape from sameness, a chance to wipe away the slate clean and start over, an opportunity to move away from past hurts, or maybe just a chance to do something different. Sometimes a new beginning is threatening because it forces me away from what is known and comfortable. Other times it is exciting-a challenge to move into new territory, or the exhilaration of an unknown adventure. Lord, you're showing me that life is really a series of new beginnings. Please remind me that change is inevitable; its how I deal with it that counts. Each day brings new challenges and problems. Each day also brings new opportunities to get to know you better, God, and to start over with a new attitude toward my circumstances and the people around me. Lord, because you renew your mercies to me every single day, I don't have to be burdened by yesterday's failures or regrets. Help me to embrace the dawn of each new day as a chance to start again and to experience the refreshment of your tender mercies.

*** Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each morning.
LEMENTATIONS 3:23***

Starting over has not been easy. The time and process leading up to the day we left was difficult. All our familiar things and places are now gone and have been replaced with new and unknown. It is exciting living someplace entirely new for all of us but at the same time it started out very scary and we still have moments of fear. But when you give up nearly everything you own and move 2,920 miles across the county there is a sense of freedom. Like with any new beginning there are bumps in the road and moments where I want to toss in the towel. But I know that I cannot do that until my Father, God, tells me that I have both done what He set out for me to do and learned what it is He wanted to teach me.

Work

O GOD,
When I'm bored , I feel so unproductive. Even though my work seems overwhelming sometimes, I thank you for it. I know it is part of your plan for my life, and I know that it matters to you. When I work diligently, I experience meaning and joy that I'm able to pass on to others. May I always remember that my work should model characteristics of your work, such as excellence, concern for the well being of others, purpose, beauty, and service. Help me to remember that I am actually working for you. Then I can focus less on the task itself and more on what my real motives should be-to help people to know you. The excitement and interest that come from having this perspective are not primarily from my work itself but for the one for whom I work. So as I do my work, may I be a credible witness to those around me. May I see my work as an opportunity to serve you and others.

***Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people. Remember that the Lord will give you and inheritance as your reward, and that the Master you are serving is Christ. COLOSSIANS 3:23-24***

"Work like your boss is watching you." Easier said than done. But what if your boss was pleased just to see you working with a smile on your face? Thats the Lord, He's happy to see you working at whatever you are doing ( provided your not a stripper, drug dealer, murderer or that which falls between)with a smile on your face. A smile on the face of someone who has a heart for the Lord and is ready to share it with those that seek it. We might not be called to be a missionary in Africa or Asia, it's here in our simple everyday lives that we can work in the lives of others. A stay at home mom, a business man, a tow truck driver, no matter what we do if we are an example of love pouring onto others and sharing Jesus with them this is pleasing to the Lord. The work that we think may not make a great impact, can and will someday.

Vision

DEAR GOD,
I want to have purpose. I want to see my way clearly in life; I want to be motivated to do something that counts. O Lord, I need vision-a picture of where you want me to be at some point in the future. How do I more clearly see what you created me to accomplish? Its only when I empty myself of my own dreams that you can fill me with your vision of my future. Please help me. May I empty myself by keeping your Word before me each day, by having a clear conscience so I can more clearly hear the promtings of your Spirit, by listening to the godly wisdom of other believers, and by praying-communing directly with you. Oh, grant me the ability to believe that you have a purpose for me to achieve and a definite place where you want my life to go. Is thereany vision more meaningful than that?

*** Open my eyes to see. PSALM 119:18***

Psalm 119 happens to be one of my favorite psalms. "Open my eyes to see".... I have been in prayer for quite some time over the same thing, my service here in this new place we live and new place in our lives. We've started attending a vey small church in comparison to our home church, since arriving I have wanted to serve in some way but have been curios as to where I would find a place in such a small church that is well established in its memebers. This week I opened my prayer up to friends and just these last two days I can see what the Lord has intended for me and its a wonderful feeling knowing that I will be serving Him and not myself.
Too often we let our vision become clouded and we cannot see what it is the Lord wants us to see and when we do, we can doubt ourselves and our abilities to carry out what he has set before us. Its never easy to believe that we can do the things He asks of us once He has answered our prayer, but we can because God will give us the strength.
***I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. PHIL 4:13***

Keep your eyes open so you too can see what the Lord has in store for you. When He reveals it, just know that with Him you will have the strength.

Meditation

LORD,
Teach me the discipline of meditating on you and on your Word. How can I be spiritually focused if I can't control my thoughts? And how can I ever hope to understand your will for me if I dont listen to what you say? Help me to push my own thoughts and desires aside and allow your Spirit to speak to me. Guide my heart and remind me of your presence. May my thoughts always be fixed on you!

***You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you! ISAIAH 26:3 ***

Im thankful for this prayer today after yesterdays day of confusion. Waiting on the Lord for direction and listening to Him ( not just hearing but following through with what I've been told to do). My mind and spirit become so clouded that I often cannot hear what it is the Lord is trying to say to me. Its like the Lord is one soft toned person in a room full of shouting people. I just have to hand the Lord a megaphone and allow Him to drown out all the others ( my thoughts and desires).

Presence of God

Lord,
You are the great and awesome Creator of all. Yet you invite me to call on you without hesitation. You say that if I am sincere in wanting to know you - rather than just looking for a good-luck charm or magic genie - you will reveal yourself to me. This is why you are the only one I will worship and adore.

*** The LORD is close to all who call on him, yes, to all who call on him in truth.
PSALM 145: 18 ***

I'm always amazed at how my God, the all powerful and creator of all takes time to be by my side when I call on Him. Is like a love story almost. A princess in need of saving and the prince comes and rescues her. Its such a beautiful knowledge and comfort having the Lord present in my life. Witnessing the joy in my life and being there to comfort me during the troubles.
My God is my King and my greatest love, and I am greatly loved by Him.- T

Transformation

LORD,
The person who has hurt me the most keeps coming to mind. My guess is that you have something to do with that. And I don't think you are bringing him to mind so I can plan how to hurt , but rather so I can pray for him. Is it possible you could change this person into a loving, on-fire believer? I don't doubt that you can. If you can turn the murderer Saul into the apostle Paul, you can certainly do a work of transformation in my greatest enemy. You are the God of transformation! But too often , in my sinful nature, I don't want you to do your work of healing and change in others. Help me to be eager for transformed lives. Lord, the next time I find myself hating that person who makes my life miserable, transform my heart so that I pray for him instead. Then don't let me be surprised if I see you begin to change him. I know you'll be changing me, too!

*** The Lord said, " Go over to Straight Street, to the house of Judas. When you get there, ask for a man from Tarsus named Saul.....I have showed him a vision of a man named Ananias coming in and laying hands on him so he can see again. " " But Lord," exclaimed Ananias, " I've heard many people talk about the terrible things this man has done to the believers of Jerusalem!..." But the Lord said, " Go, for Saul is my chosen instrument to take my message to the Gentiles and to kings, as well as to the people of Israel." ACTS 9:11-15***

I'm sure at times we have all experienced a great enemy. One in my life had been a fellow church attendee. Its upsetting to say and think of even now a year later. I won't share specifics but what transpired was a great difficulty. I know now that my silence during this time was pleasing to God because as much as I was hurt she was hurting even more. The great lesson in this is that sometimes people act and say things out of anger to a physical form in front of them. Its not necessarily meant for you. Continuing to pray for them and yourself is a must and needed for change.

Accomplishments

DEAR LORD,
Deep within my heart lies a longing for real significance and purpose -- a longing that you have given me. But too often I have much lower ambitions. Why is my first instinct to look out for myself? Why does that come so easily? It's more difficult, more costly, but more significant to look out for others. I know that , but I need your help to do it. Whenever I think about myself first, I waste an opportunity to have eternal impact. Please grant me the awareness to know if my actions are accomplishing what glorifies myself--and will therefore never last beyond this life--or what glorifies you and will stand for all eternity. Lord, please give me a heart that seeks your glory.

***[Those who are rich] should be rich in good works and generous to those in need, always being ready to share with others. By doing this they will be storing up their treasure as a good foundation for the future so that they may experience true life.
I TIMOTHY 6:18-19***

"Store up for yourselves, treasures in heaven . Where theives and robbers cannot break in...." this is a very simple way to memorize this verse and understand it. It is childrens song that I have heard and sang during my time of service in children's ministry. As an adult I think of something else when I hear this verse or hear my children sing this song. WHAT DO YOU HAVE TO SHOW FOR IT? its a very good question to ask yourself. What do your accomplishments have to show for all your work? Are you buliding up treasures here on earth ? Things that will fade away with time. Things that you cannot take with you once you leave this earth. This childrens song is the perfect teaching tool , telling us what is important. Buling up our foundation in heaven , putting our treasure there where we know for certain it is safe and we cannot be robbed of it. Once you have done and are doing this , material things on this earth become different to you. ( No more camping outside of stores for black friday to be the first one in and get the coveted electronic of the season) Im thankful that I can see this a something that does not matter and focus on what does. Our biggest treasure at this time are our children, building them up strong in the Lord so they will be ready for whenever and wherever the Lord calls them into service.

Tithing

DEAR GOD,
Each year as I determine how I can give to you financially, I consider what I receive from giving. I know that supporting the church and the work of godly people around the world can provide great joy. Also, I want to give to you because you truly are my number one priority, and I am so grateful for the blessings you have given me. I know that maintaining a habit of regular tithing will help remind me that you are the source of all my blessings. God, as I commit my tithes to you, I ask that you use my gifts to support your work in my community and around the world to meet the needs of those less fortunate than I am. By my gifts, may I show my commitment to you and honor you for your faithful provision in my life.

*** Give, and you will receive. Your gift will return to you in full--pressed down, shaken together to make more room for more, running over, and poured into your lap. The amount you give will determine the amount you get back. LUKE 6:38 ***

When times are tough its never easy to give what you don't have. But it does help to think of what the Lord has provided you with and where you can do without in order to tithe and help provide for others doing Gods work. A simple phrase is used in our house, one that we use anytime we buy anything other than food....." Buy what you need not what you want." It can be hard to live buy only buying the things that you need but after doing it for so long it becomes easy and you gain a better view on your wants and needs. Especially when you can use all the extra money to put in to tithing and supporting the church. Yes, some purchases can be a want more so than a need but I like to look at that as blessing from the Lord for all the need only purchases. The greatest blessing I have been given from this was the day my oldest Sylvia said to my second child David, when he was begging for something outrageously sugary from the store, "Brother , do you need that or do you just want it?" My heart just melted. She went on to further say " Brother, lets just ask mommy to make us some cookies and save the money and give it to offering at church." My cup was overflowing, I know it was the Lord just blessing me by showing me my way of saving to tithe all that I could was now also a part of my childrens heart as well.

Until the day we are called to a great service for the Lord, we take joy in supporting those that already do.

Abilities

LORD,
I may not be the strongest, the fastest, the smartest, or the most beautiful, but I know you can still use me in a powerful way. Teach me that the abilities you have given me are only maximized when they are used for your purposes. Please reveal to me my abilities and my spiritual gifts. I want to learn how to use those gifts for you, not just for myself, so I can realize what it means to honor and serve you. Show me how to fit my abilities into your plan, so that my life will yield great results in your eyes.

*** When someone has been given much, much will be required in return; and when someone has been entrusted with much, even more will be required. LUKE 12:48 ***

I had always thought that I need to be physically fit to be an example of strength. I had never knew that it wasn't until I was at my weakest, but unwilling to give up because of the faith that I have , that I would be concidered strong. Our abilities come from the Lord. He is our creator and knows what we are capable of, even though sometimes we question ourselves and our abilities. When ever I am about to take something on I say " Im going to try". Not to say that I wont do my best but I will try my best with God by myside. Like any athlete that wins an award , when asked how did they do it they say hard work and encouragement from my coach. The Lord is my coach and He lovingly pushes me to achieve what I think is impossible but He knows is possible.

Never fail to thank the One who pushed you along when you felt like quitting.-T

Call of God

DEAR GOD,
Deep down inside I long to be a part of something bigger than myself. I sometimes wonder why I was born and what I should be doing with my life. I believe my search for purpose is actually the result of you calling me to discover the reason you created me. I often wish, God, that yor call would come in the form of an audible voice or a miraculous sign in the sky. But that's not usually the way you communicate, and you dont alway call people to extra-ordinary, life-changing adventures. Your call is often a task right in front of me, something I can do today; it might be working in the nursery at church, caring for an ailing parent, giving kind instruction to a child, making dinner at a local soup kitchen, or volunteering at my child's school. Lord, you have given me special gifts and abilities, and you want me to use them now, not just five or ten years from now. Help me to answer your call to serve you and other people today so that I might be fully prepared when call me to something bigger. Thank you that in everything you call me to do, you will equip me with the desire, vision, support, and resources I need to carry it out.

*** May the God of peace make you holy in every way, and may your whole spirit and soul and body be kept blameless until our Lord Jesus Christ comes again. God will make this happen, foe he who calls you is faithful. I THESSALONIANS 5:23-24 ***

I like to think that each day brings and opportunity to serve the Lord by serving another. Wheather its in a simple "HELLO" to brighten someones day or taking a short phone call a little further and having a conversation. As a mother and wife Im called to serve four people daily. Im thankful to the lord for this. My daily tasks and conversations are not only for my family but for myself. The things I do to serve them, whether it be calming an upset child , resolving an arguement between two kids, stopping to offer a listening ear to my husband even though my kids are tugging at me for something are lessons that I can use to serve others.
As a girl my sister and I were taught that when you are invited to a large family gathering at someones house that we should not wait for the host/hostess to become in need of a set of extra hands. I guess you could say our mother taught us to be Marthas from the start :) With that said , Ive never been afraid to jump right in and give a helping hand. Ive heard" Oh no, thats okay your a guest. Dont be silly, you dont have to help clean up. NO. NO. NO. You shouldnt be doing dishes. " I know that anyones first thought is that my guest shouldn't be cleaning , I know I would think that, but i never felt that it applied to me. Im always happy to serve someone by helping clean up where it is needed. I know that I too need to sit at the feet of the Lord as much as others but during the time I'm cleaning and others are having fellowship, Im having my own quiet time with the Lord. It wasn't until my wonderfully sweet friend Laurie thanked me one day for cleaning up after our church groups monthly dinner, that I realized that my service as a wife and mother had turned into a service for others. I was pleasing the Lord by being a dutiful wife, and much more so by allowing that to spill over onto others by my simple actions. I never felt like I was robbed of time with others when I was happily cleaning the churches kitchen while others talked.

My time alone in the church kitchen was a fresh perspective. Washing dishes and lots of them; some sticky , greasy, and with stuck food , made me think of how the Lord cleans up our lives when they become hectic and difficult. Some lives reasembled some lives, easily made a new with a simple wash. Others with food stuck to the pan need a good soak and heavy hand for scrubbing. The end result always the same , a nice clean shiny pan. Being called by God can come in daily tasks and then those tasks can be used unknowingly to serve others and bless them. The best part is knowing that service and calling can spill over and happen again and again for you , for them and so on.

Goals

DEAR GOD,
Often I set long-term and short-term goals, but can I also set eternal goals? Shouldn't I spend more time thinking about my future home with you? Father, show me how to set goals that will keep me moving forward spiritually!

*** All athletes are disciplined in theit training. They do it to win a prize that will fade away, but we do it for an eternal prize. I CORINTHIANS 9:25 ***

During our time of childrens ministry service I most enjoyed teaching this bible verse. It was great acting out the verse and demonstrating ways we need to be disciplined and the difference being in a race for a worldly prize or an eternal one. The conversation between the boys in the class was sweet to hear. "I'm going to run my race for God and serve others." " I'm going to have more discipline in my race." " I say slow and steady wins the race." Hearing young voices setting goals is a refreshment and reminder to stick to the ones I have set. No matter how many are running a race by my side , each persons race make take them on a different course but our finishline is still Eternity with The Lord.

Confession

MERCIFUL GOD,
I'm feeling guilty and my conscience is showing me that it's time to confess my wrongdoing. I know you are prompting me to seek forgiveness. I'm sorry for the wrong I've done. I am so grateful that you don't shut me out when I have sinned. Even my sin can be an opportunity for you to pursue me and call me back to your righteous path. Thank you, God, for removing my guilt, restoring my joy, and healing my broken soul.

***People who conceal their sins will not prosper, but if they confess and turn from them, they will receive mercy. PROVERBS 28:13 ***

Confession can sometimes feel like being pulled up from under water and finally breathing air. Guilt can feel like a weight that keeps growing as time counts on. Every second can feel like another ounce that you have to carry. Its not until we seek forgiveness from The Lord that we can take that all relieving breath above the surface.
I can remember one time when I felt so overwhelmed with guilt that it was like I was drowning. I had confessed to the Lord that I felt guilty and the main cause for the difficult situation at hand. No matter how much I prayed and spent time with Him it just didnt seem like I had done enough to seek and receive forgiveness from Him. It wasn't until the middle of the night while lying awake with an anxious heart and running mind, that I realized The Lord had forgiven me but I was forgetting to seek the forgiveness from another. My husband. During the days of anxiety and crying and broken hearted emotions I had wronged him in not seeking his counsel and prayer over me. I shook him away and confessed my feelings and asked for forgiveness from him. That had to be the best nights sleep I have ever had, knowing that I had been forgiven by My King and My Husband.

Forgiveness comes to the one who seeks confession.-T

Hope

Eternal God and Savior,
For a prisoner on death row, a pardon offers hope of freedom. I was once a spiritual prisoner facing eternal death because of my sin. You have given me the ultimate hope of freedom by forgiving my sins so I can one day be with you forever in heaven. How can I thank you enough? When my life here and now seems impossible, you give eternal hope. Without hope, I could not persevere through the rough times. I would give up. As I walk throught this life , may I fix my eyes on eternity. May I never forget where I am headed, and why there is no better place to be. For in heaven I will live in perfect relationship with you and others forever, with no pain or sorrow or suffering. What joy! Please help me to move straight ahead toward that goal. As I do, I know I'll gain a better perspective on the struggles and discomforts of this life.

*** All praise to God, the father of our Lord Jesus Christ. It is by his great mercy that we have been born again, because God raised Jesus Christ from the dead. Now we live with great expectations, and we have a priceless inheritance--an inheritance that is kept in heaven for you, pure and undefiled, beyond the reach of change and decay. And through your faith, God is protecting you by his power until you receive his salvation....There is wonderful joy ahead, even though you have to endure many trials for a little while. I PETER I:3-6 ***

" What am I doing this for?.......What am I getting out of it?"
Ive heard those in two different tones: saved and unsaved. The unsaved is one who is thinking of their immediate reward for what they are doing and what they are going through.
The saved is one who is thinking of what they are gleaning from the trial or service and how it is pleasing to the Lord. Its the hope that we have in our eternity that makes all the difference. Having hope in our Lord is what gets us through our struggles and trials. Now Im not saying that they will be resolved in the manner we want but we will get through them. Having hope is really what makes the difference.

Challenges

O Lord ,
Thank you for your Word . How often we see our own struggles through the lives of the people in the Bible. I'm encouraged by the example of Paul , whose goal to preach the gospel in new places continually brought him fresh challenges. While difficult, those trials clearly caused greater growth in his relationship with you. Lord. what do you want me to learn from the challenges that come my way? And how might they strengthen my relationship with you? Please show me how to step out in faith so that I can move closer to you. May the struggles I face cause me to follow your leading into uncharted waters , and may I learn to trust you more and more. Then I know I will be accomplishing your unique purpose for me. Thank you for showing me that it is often through challenges that you make a plan clear to me.

*** Be strong and courageous , and do the work. Don't be afraid or discouraged, for the LORD God.....is with you.He will not fail you or forsake you. 1 CHRONICLES 28:20***

We all struggle with things in our lives. I think the biggest are understanding and self control. Its never easy to understand the situation that the Lord has placed you in. Its most often not until we are removed from it, and can look at what it was with a new view, that we understand the way all the little challenegs fit together for a greater picture and amazing lesson. Its a struggle at this point in our lives to understand why The Lord would want us to let go of almost all of our belongings and travel clear across the country to live and face even greater challenges than before. We know we were called here for a purpose and we are waiting on Him to show us if its for a greater change in us or to be the start of a change in others. Either way I know He wants us to draw closer to Him throughout these challenges and to be a light to others as well. Its never easy but He is our creator , and only the creator of an object knows how strong it is.

Change brings challenges but both bring a new start and strength.-T

Anticipation

O God,
My life is so noisy-and sadly, it resounds more often with the ringing phones and droning televisions than with praise and worship for you. Do I ever pause and wonder what momentous things you might be preparing to do next in my life? How many moments of awe-inspiring anticipation do I miss by never being still before you? I need your help to discipline myself . Help me to build a few momens of silent anticipation into each day, making time to pray and open myself up to what you want to do in and through me. I pray, God that in these moments, you will reveal enough of your plan to make me ready for your great purposes in my life. I come before you with reverent awe and anticipation for the glorious furture that lies ahead.

*** You guide me with your counsel, leading me to a glorious destiny. PSALM 73:24***

Living here I have a new found appreciation for silent moments. Traveling outside of aour area brings lots of noise and movement. The only time this city and state shuts down and becomes silent is when a snow storm hits. Yet its during the wind and snow that there is such a calm and silence you can just look out the window with wide eyes like a child and be in awe of our glorious Father and all his wonders. While most are sad that business had been haulted , I am taking this time to see it as a planned day of family fun provided by The Lord.

You can enjoy the silent calm if you dont appreciate the storm that brought it.-T

Intiative

Holy God,
I believe that you sometimes initiate a change of heart in me so that I will desire to be in closer relationship with you. Self ambition and spiritual blindness steal my passion for you , and sometimes you need to point out these ways within me. Your Holy Spirit convicts me of my sin , prompting me to remember you , to confess my waywardness, and seek restoration with you . Lord God, thank you that you take the initiative in this way. But you don't only point out the offense; you also guide me back to the right path. You never initiate a change of heart and then abandon me. Thank you for constantly taking the first step. No matter how many times I wander, you are always ready to take me back and restore me into a right relationship with you.

*** " My wayward children," says the LORD, 'Come back to me, and I will heal your wayward hearts." JEREMIAH 3:22 ***

I remember a phone convestion that I was having with a bill collector that immediately made me angry once he announce the company he was with. Since the begining of our sign up with the company we had not received regular bills. As you can imaginge running a household with three children and participating in several activities on a weekly basis can cause one to lose track of a thing or two , Especially when you never get a bill. This hadnt been the first time receiving the " PAST DUE" phone call and it hadnt been the first time I blew up on the phone. At that time I felt i was justified for yelling at the person on the other end and it was okay since it wasnt the first mess up in this one department. Have you ever heard the saying " SEEING RED" ? Thats what I felt like, I was tired , frustrated and this phone call was about to be that straw that broke the camels back. " MOMMY, IS THE PERSON YOU ARE TALKING TO DOING SOMETHING WRONG?" Once my four year old said these words I realized that it was not his fault I didnt receive my bill. He was not the one printing out all the bills. He was mearly doing the job he was given. I immediately asked the man what his name was again and started to apologize to him. I went on to say that it was wrong of me to yell at him since he was just calling to let me know about my bill so my services would not be closed.
I felt so angry and horrible at the same time during that conversation . I kept justifying my actions and trying to make them excusable because I was the one who had been wronged. But The Lord helped me realize that I was the one who was wrong . He changed my heart in an instant and helped me to apologize to the man. That man thanked me at the end of our phone call, saying he was yelled at for most of his work day and having one person say sorry meant a lot. I didnt feel great about my actions that day but I can say that I could have felt worse had I not listened to The Lord and bit my tounge and apologized to a complete stanger.

Its easy to try and justify sin, but the harder task of taking the initiative to admit being wrong and apologize is the one rewarded by growning closer to The Lord-T

Growth

Dear God,
I confess that I often want to be instantly mature in my faith. I lack the patience to work at it . Help me to remember that spiritual growth is like a physical growth: I must start small, take one day at a time, get enough nourishment. I know I can do this by challenging my mind to study your Word, asking questions about it , and then seeking answers through prayer, the counsel of other believers , and life's experiences. Help me to see each day as a building block and to commit to buiklding a life of Godly charachter one step at a time.

***We ask God to give you complete knowledge of his will and to give you spiritual wisdom and understanding. Then the way you live will always honor and please the Lord, and your lives will produce every kind of good fruit. All the while , you will grow as you learn to know God better and better. COLOSSIANS 1:9-10***

In a day and age when instant is all around us and the lack of patience is normal it is a dose of good medicine to have to wait, Especially when it comes to waiting on the Lord.-T
